Richard Mayberry
A native North Carolinian, Richard Mayberry graduated from the University of South Florida in Tampa with a B.A. degree in visual arts in 1974. Four years later, he received an M.F.A. degree in painting from Queens College in Queens, New York.
Working from photographs, Mayberry creates remarkably detailed drawings and prints that attest to his love for complexity. Every tree, leaf, flower and weed is given his full attention. Whether building up layers and layers of pencil marks or gouging out lines and shapes with an engraving tool, Mayberry concentrates on producing highly textured, realistic images.
