Susan Grossman

Using charcoal and pastel to create her luminous, shimmering drawings, Susan Grossman absorbs our attention irrevocably. Grossman most often explores the streets of New York City, camera in hand, to capture her imagery. A cinematic quality radiates through flashes of color that the artist couples with strong compositional and perspectival effects.

Susan Grossman earned a BA from Bennington College in 1981 and a MFA from Brooklyn College in 1988. She has taught at City College of New York and is currently teaching drawing at the National Academy School of Fine Arts.
